“Six of a Kind” is a story about a small group of friends about to graduate from college. Getting together one last time before they part ways. Each very different in their own way with their own trials and tribulations. What starts off as a simple and fun night like the hundreds they’ve had before, turns out to be an eye opening experience for every one of them. It’s a fast talking, witty, high stakes comedy with lots of heart.
Producer Ram Munguia![]() Ram Munguia is originally from Los Angeles, California but has been in Fort Worth, Texas since the age of 10. As soon as he could get a hold of any simple handheld cameras, he began writing short films that he would shoot with his friends. What started off as typical childhood fun became a deep passion as the years went by. Ram has dabbled in a little bit of everything from hosting film festival reviews to modeling for Indulge Magazine. He has acted in dozens of plays throughout Fort Worth including "A Few Good Men" at Casa Manana theater where he acted alongside Lou Diamond Phillips and Jensen Ackles. He also starred in the independent film "West Lincoln," television pilot "Penthouse," music video "The Day" by Moby, and short film "Whoever That Is" which he wrote and directed.

Writer / Director: Anthony Cortez![]() Anthony Cruz Cortez was born in Fort Worth TX. He began his acting career at the age of 7 when he was casted in a Reebok commercial with the Texas Rangers own Juan Gonzales. After this three day shoot he was hooked on the business. Since then he has acted in commercials, school and local theatrical productions and independent films. While still in high school Anthony sought a different route in the art form. He wrote his first play at the age of 14 that he directed himself “Hillside Englanders”. He continued to write and direct all the through college. He worked as an Assistant Director on the student film “Skull” as well as the student film “Karrot and the Stick”. Since then he has written many short and feature length films including “Six of a Kind”, “Fortune Favors the Bold”, “Purple Heart” and “Dive”.
Co producer Tom Huckabee![]() Local filmmaker Tom Huckabee is a Renaissance man, which is a fancy way of saying he can do a bunch of different stuff. He’s been buddies with actor Bill Paxton ever since they met while growing up in Fort Worth, he’s worked on Hollywood films in various capacities for more than 20 years, and he’s still riding high on Carried Away, his directorial debut which just happened to win the Best Narrative Feature award at the Glen Rose Neo-Relix Film Festival last weekend.
Producer Logan Gilpin![]() Logan Gilpin is a true renaissance man in the film industry. He is a producer, director, cinematographer, editor, and a Telly Award winner. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he began to experiment with film at an early age and was producing documentaries and shorts while still in high school. Before the age of 20, Logan was working out of his home producing music videos and short films which not only gained him local acclaim but also gained him the experience and confidence needed to branch out into bigger productions. He has produced independent films, television pilots, and several documentaries including "The Skylines of Texas," "The Rose: A Sense of Place," and "Unfortunately Undocumented," just to name a few. All of which he created himself. |
“Six of a Kind”
Six of a Kind is a coming of age movie about the stresses of life. When six friends get together for a night of poker, drinking and joking emotions run high. With the pending graduation coming and the hope of love in the air these friends go all in with their emotions. Through conversations, arguments, gambles and the joys of self-expression they finally come into themselves and find out that what they were all looking for was inside them all along. Gabriel has organized a poker night for his five closest friends. Isaiah (Gabriel’s roommate) has other plans. The clever and all-knowing Gabriel finds a way to trap him into staying. When Soni (fast talking vulgar Theatre major), Summer (a very innocent, British music major looking to break out of her shell), Sway (a general studies major who believes she is in love with ‘Isaiah’) and David (a film student who is in love with ‘Sway’) come over to play poker the games begin. As they make jokes and share intimate stories they reveal their true selves. Summers lack of sexual experiences comes to the light of the group. David confesses his love to Sway and gets rejected. Sway believes she is pregnant by Isaiah. Soni has her faith and confidence thrown into complete upheaval and Gabriel questions his life time long friendship with Isaiah.
This witty and heart driven story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions that teenagers and adults will love. Six of a Kind is a genuine and rare comedy that speaks the truth about life, love, sex and friendships.
The story begins at 10 pm in a an apt where these people have all gathered to play a game of poker.
